Our Historic Building

Oldestone Steakhouse makes its home in one of New Hope's most historic sites. Known locally as ‘the Old Stone church,” the building celebrated its 150th birthday in 2022.

Construction of the stone church was completed in 1872 during the post-Civil War period of renewal, as a Methodist house of worship. Iconic historic details of the church find their way into the decor to this day, including the altar in the dining room, gorgeous stained glass windows and the still-intact original bell tower.

You'll celebrate some true American history when you dine at Oldestone!

Redemption

One of the more iconic trademarks of this historic building is the 20' x 40" mural that remains a centerpiece in the large dining room. Painted by master Russian artist Valerie Belikin, “Redemption” offers us a dramatic focal point, depicting a modernization of the story of St. George slaying the dragon.

Artist Belikin, who paints in a classic Renaissance style, created the mural over a 5 month span in 2003, painting 7 days a week until he was finished. Patrons remark how stunning this artwork is to behold in person, and it has truly become part of the identity of this building in the modern era.
